If you’ve lived very long there is no doubt you will have some regrets. Regret is defined as, “to feel sorry, disappointed, distressed or remorseful about, to remember with a feeling of loss or sorrow, to mourn. That feeling can be overwhelming sometimes. 

Insecurity. It feels like an epidemic of late. There are probably many reasons for this seeming escalation but in reality it goes all the way back to the beginning. It just seems to be at the core of our human nature since the Fall of Man. People all throughout history have questioned their own ability, or talent to do the things that God has asked of them. 

It seems in the social media/internet driven world we currently live in it’s easy to get caught up in all of the online debates and opinion sharing…lord help us. Maybe some of that is a good thing if done respectfully but it can also turn into a friend blocking, character bashing, 3-ring circus. Wowzers….

The moment our child is born we scoop them up into our arms. As we search their little bodies looking at every toe and finger, counting them making sure they are all there, we are in wonder. How could this little perfect human have come from me? We are at awe because from those first moments we are certain we would give our very lives for them. No question.

We get busy, we overcommit, we get tired and we forget to ask for help…we all do it. I do it. We were built for community, for relationship and we need each other more than we like to admit sometimes. Me too…

If we are paying attention the biggest lessons we need to learn are right under our noses….IF. Lessons packaged as opportunities surround us everyday and that is often the problem. They seem so “everyday” we don’t realize what they actually are and miss what they can teach us. Yep…I had quite a week.

We’ve all heard the statement from people who don’t claim to be a Christian, “How could you do that, I thought you were a Christian?”  Well if you’ve been around Christianity at all you’ve seen first hand the reality that NO Christian is perfect or even in the same universe as perfect. 

The Scripture tells us to fight the good fight of faith. But if you’re like me you can get tired of the fight. I.am.so there…are you? Ugh. So today I’m dusting off my big guns and getting back in the fight. We won’t win if we do not fight. Yep…we get weary it happens. But we cannot stay there. 

It’s been a pretty crappy week in my neck of the woods. Anyone else? I’ve had two bad physical blows that nearly took the wind out of my sails. We’ve all been there I know. But as I sat and thought on this I knew I was being presented with a “choice”.

We all remember that day; where we were when we saw the news of one of the most tragic attacks on American soil. We all felt the pain of the loss and the shock of it all. It changed us as a Nation and a people in many ways. 

Have you ever been certain that your idea about how to do something was the absolute right way to do it? I mean other people may suggest another way but you KNEW your way was the most logical and efficient way to get it done? To you there was just no other way.

I read this and it tugged on my heart and I knew I just needed to share it. It’s a beautifully expressed piece by Mary DeMuth from her book “We Too Me”. We just have to get better at loving and helping hurting people…period.

This is a different Blog than I usually post but my heart is heavy…maybe yours is too. It seems more and more we are seeing prominent Christians renounce their faith. It’s a heartbreaking thing to see, and an even more difficult thing to understand.

We’ve all heard a message on faith somewhere along our Christian journey. The Bible defines faith as “The substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not yet seen.” Hebrews 11:1.

Have you ever had something happen, something that you may have even known might happen but when it does…it just seems to hit your emotions sideways? Before you know it those negative, angry or even depressive feelings just start to overwhelm you heart. Welp…you guessed it, I had that happen recently. So now we all get to learn from it! Lol

I was almost finished with a Blog for this week when as he sometimes does the Holy Spirit interrupted me with something different. Of course his idea will be much better and I believe timely for many…including myself!

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to get caught up in the criticism we hear all around us? From the media, the Left, the Right, the church, the Government, everyone criticizing and complaining about what everyone else is doing or saying or isn’t doing…it is maddening.

When we hear the word Idol…what comes to mind a brass or stone statue in some foreign country that people worship, or do we consider it something of ancient days gone by. No one really worships idols today do they? Hmmm…or do we?

Do you ever just get tired? Tired of standing, believing, fighting, and wondering if your promise or desire will ever materialize? You’ve stood until you feel like you can’t stand anymore. It would be so easy to just chuck it all. To give up and say screw it I’m done…
