God Of The Impossible

Man…I don’t know if anyone can relate but life has been punching my guts out lately. For real…it can take a toll not only physically but emotionally and spiritually too. Our whole being can get weary of the constant blows that come in different areas of our lives.

What can we do when we are knocked to the canvas over and over? Only one thing…we get back up over and over. We all get knocked down by circumstances, bad news, a job loss whatever. It’s always our choice to stay down or rise back up. It’s ok to stay down for a minute…life’s harsh blows hurt and can knock the wind out of us.

Paul said in Philippians 3:12-14 TLB “But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it but I focus on this one thing; forgetting the past and looking to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus is calling us.”

What else could be more important than pressing on? The only alternative is defeat and I don’t have time to quit. I won’t let my enemy win no matter what I have to do. I won’t lose what Christ has gained for me. Nope “I ain’t doin it “as Heather Land so graciously coined (if you haven’t heard of her check her out on YouTube).

It doesn’t matter who threw the blow, or why they did or who is right or wrong. It landed between our eyes and packed a wallop. Answers don’t change that but perspective can. So many times the Holy Spirit speaks to me through a song I randomly find; yes God has invaded YouTube!

These are the lyrics to a song called “Graves into Gardens” listen HERE.

“Oh, there’s nothing better than You, There’s nothing better than You

Lord, there’s nothing, Nothing is better than You (Oh, yes I know it’s true)

I’m not afraid, To show You my weakness, My failures and flaws

Lord, You’ve seen ’em all, And You still call me friend

‘Cause the God of the mountain, Is the God of the valley, There’s not a place

Your mercy and grace, Won’t find me again

You turn mourning to dancing, You give beauty for ashes,

You turn shame into glory, You’re the only one who can

You turn graves into gardens, You turn bones into armies

You turn seas into highways, You’re the only one who can”

The blows come and the fight is real. BUT!!!! Scripture reassures us over an over that our God takes what looks impossible and turns it into a way out! Mourning was turned into dancing when Jesus rolled the stone away from his tomb! What looked impossible became possible when God intervened!  When our situation has turned to ashes before our very eyes and our heart is shattered leaving only ashes in the wake, those very ashes are the best fertilizer that can make our life beautiful again! Think back on all of the times God had done that for you. He takes what looks like the worst possible outcome and somehow turns it around into something so much better. Usually not as quick as we’d like but his timing is perfect.

When I think of shame being turned into glory I think of Joyce Meyer. She took the shame and devastation of her childhood and sexual abuse from her father and turned it into a ministry that has healed and helped women all over the globe recover from the same brokenness. She took what the devil meant for her harm and turned it into a ministry to heal and deliver others. Boom!

In Ezekiel 37:1-10 “The Lord took hold of me, and I was carried away by the Spirit of the Lord to a valley filled with bones. He led me all around among the bones that covered the valley floor. They were scattered everywhere across the ground and were completely dried out. Then he asked me, “Son of man, can these bones become living people again?” “O Sovereign Lord,” I replied, “you alone know the answer to that.”

Then he said to me, “Speak a prophetic message to these bones and say, ‘Dry bones, listen to the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Look! I am going to put breath into you and make you live again! I will put flesh and muscles on you and cover you with skin. I will put breath into you, and you will come to lifeThen you will know that I am the Lord.’”

So I spoke this message, just as he told me. Suddenly as I spoke, there was a rattling noise all across the valley. The bones of each body came together and attached themselves as complete skeletons. Then as I watched, muscles and flesh formed over the bones. Then skin formed to cover their bodies, but they still had no breath in them.

Then he said to me, “Speak a prophetic message to the winds, son of man. Speak a prophetic message and say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, O breath, from the four winds! Breathe into these dead bodies so they may live again.’” So I spoke the message as he commanded me, and breath came into their bodies. They all came to life and stood up on their feet—a great army.

Only our Father could bring life from death. If he did that then he can do it for our situations. Nothing is impossible for him. Never doubt his ability to turn things around. Like Ezekiel prophesy over your dead bones and command life to come into them and watch God move.

Lastly I love the story of the Israelites coming out of Egypt. God brings them out promising to take them to the promised land and they head straight for the sea and have no way to get across. Pharaoh’s army is hot on their heels. It looks like there is no way out. But God is the God of the impossible and he does the impossible by splitting the sea so they can get across….only God.

God time and time again has proven he can do what we think can’t be done. He can make a way when it seems there is no way, he was faithful and true then and he never changes Malachi 3:6 “I the Lord do not change.” Whatever your situation God is the answer.

Exodus 14:14 “The Lord will fight for you, you need only be still”
